Vancouver, Wash. -- On Saturday, December 2, 2017, the Vancouver Police Officer's Guild (VPOG) and Nautilus Inc. will be hosting a holiday shopping event for kids. This will be the second year combining the Nautilus, Inc. Holiday Helper event with the VPOG Shop With A Cop. This combined event will allow 100 kids the opportunity to shop with more than 200 combined Vancouver Police officers and Nautilus, Inc. staff volunteering their time.

Date: Saturday, December 2, 2017
Time: 5:30 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Location: Target (16200 NE Mill Plain Blvd.)

This will be the 25th anniversary of Shop With A Cop and the 14th year for Nautilus Holiday Helpers.

"This event is such a great way to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season and I'm grateful for the generosity that the VPOG and Nautilus, Inc. show each year to provide shopping assistance to deserving kids in our community," said Vancouver Police Chief James McElvain.

"We are proud to partner with the Vancouver Police Officers Guild for our 14th year, and to be able to continue to serve families in our community," said Wayne Bolio, Senior Vice President, Law and Human Resources, for Nautilus, Inc.. "There is something very heartwarming about shopping alongside a Vancouver Police officer and these children, and seeing the pride they feel when they've personally selected gifts for their family members. For many, the ability to give Christmas gifts is a feeling of empowerment that they have never experienced before."

Each year the Vancouver Police Officers Guild and Nautilus, Inc. work with multiple community social service agencies serving families in need to identify and select the children to participate in these shopping events (all children have already been pre-selected by the social service agencies and this event is not open to the general public).

Members of the media are invited and encouraged to attend and will have access to store at 5:30a.m., with kids arriving at approximately 5:45a.m.
